Carrie Fisher’s Daughter, Billie Lourd, Dishes On Her First Acting Job: ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’

Carrie Fisher will always be known as Princess Leia in the original ‘Star Wars’ trilogy. Now, despite not wanting her daughter to go into acting, Billie Lourd is following in her mother’s footsteps. Her first actin job is in J.J. Abrams’s ‘Star Wars’ reboot, no less!

Billie admitted her parents, Carrie and talent agent Bryan Lourd, did not want her to go into acting.

My whole life, they said, 'Do not act. You need to get a college degree.’”

She heeded her parents’ wishes and got a degree from NYU last year. And then she started acting with a role in ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ ;).

This is the first job I’ve ever had—right into the fire.”

That’s the truth! Although Billie can’t say much of anything about her role or the movie, she was able to stay that she is NOT playing Princess Leia’s daughter.

Billie also got a role in the upcoming Fox series ‘Scream Queens'; she’s playing a sorority girl.

It’s scary, but there’s a lot of comedic breaks. She’s brought up my sass level for sure.”

After she’s done shooting ‘Scream Queens,’ Billie will embark on the “hustle and grind” to get more acting roles, but she doesn’t seem to mind.

This is what I’ve always wanted. I’m living the dream right now.”

I understand her parents’ reluctance for her to go into the entertainment industry: it’s a tough business, but it’s in this girl’s blood! Good for Billie for pursuing her dreams: she’s certainly off to a great start with roles in two high profile projects.
