This IS Melissa McCarthy’s moment. She’s the star of the #1 movie at the box office, ‘Spy,’ and she’s fulfilling her lifelong dream of becoming a fashion designer. She chatted about the risks she took to get where she is today.

Melissa told People that it’s taken a while to change Hollywood’s expectations for female comedians.
[Being funn] couldn’t be through your personality or actions, you just had to look crazy.”
She said she’s had to push the limits of what’s expected in order to succeed.
I just think that we’ve gotten rid of, luckily, a lot of those guidelines. Funny is funny, and it can come in 8 billion different shades and flavors, so I think it’s silly to kind of limit it.”
It’s safe to say Melissa has proven her point with ‘Spy,’ which debuted at #1 at the box office last weekend, and she’s savoring it.
I’m having the time of my life.”
And so she should!

Melissa admitted it was a risky choice to quit fashion school when she was 20 to try her hand at Hollywood. Yet she’s always wanted to design clothes for all women. Her clothing sizes range from 4 – 28 “because women do not stop at size 12.”
You look much better when you’re comfy. From grade school until age 20, I had one thought in my head, which was doing women’s clothing. To get to come back to it, is kind of crazy. It’s pretty dreamy.”
I can’t wait to see the pieces in her clothing line. For now, I heartily recommend seeing ‘Spy.’ It was absolutely hilarious!
