I have always been a big fan of the Mario Kart games since way back in the day. They are pure video games. No long quests like the Legend of Zelda or complicated controls like Halo. No, you just drive around a crazy track and try and keep Waluigi from hitting you with a Koopa shell. They are what video games were meant to be. Plot wise there isn’t much to them. They are just one long car chase. In that they have a lot in common with the Mad Max movies. Those aren’t exactly big on plot. It’s basically people chasing each other in cars and blowing stuff up in a rough framework of a story. The latest installment, Mad Max: Fury Road, is certainly not unlike a driving video game. Except instead of bananas they use real bombs.
So, it’s not surprising that some enterprising person mashed-up Mario Kart and Mad Max. It’s a given.
